About us
The ‘Institut für Sportstättenprüfung’ (ISP) was founded by Dr. Uwe Schattke in 1999.
At the beginning, ISP was primarily concerned with the inspection and testing of completed sports hall floors. Today, ISP disposes of a well-equipped laboratory, where material testing of synthetic sports surfaces, artificial turf systems, impact absorbing wall coverings and sports hall floor systems is performed.
The scope of services of ISP also includes the qualification tests of all kind of synthetic sports floor systems for the indoor and outdoor application; furthermore, the inspections of installation works being directly performed on site, the testing of old sports hall floors, the quality monitoring as well as the surveying and evaluation of any prevailing claims and disputes.
ISP is an accredited laboratory according to DIN EN ISO 17025 as well as a member of the ISSS (International Association for Sports Surface Sciences), IAKS as well as BSFH (Federal Association for the manufacturers of playground and leisure facilities). The Institute is also recognized by the two national quality monitoring organizations RAL and DIN Certco.
The institute's director, Dr. Uwe Schattke, being a graduated engineer in the measurement technology, received his doctor’s degree on the subject of measuring forces in the biomechanics of sport performance and had been the manager of a biomechanics laboratory for several years. From 1991 to 1998, he held a senior position in a construction company being specialized in sports hall floors. He is an appointed and sworn expert for sports floors, accredited by the IHK (Chamber of Industry and Commerce) Osnabrück-Emsland, Germany.
The laboratory’s manager of ISP, Dennis Frank, is a well educated and qualified expert in the natural scientific field, who had worked before in a testing institute abroad being internationally accredited for sport surface science. Furthermore, he is authorized and nominated by ISP for the Quality Management of ISP (the so-called “QMB”).
